Calgary Event Photographer

Images from Halloween Spooktacular

I wanted to share a few sample images from our special "Garage of Horrors" studio event on Halloween Night. Every Trick or Treater that stopped by the garage was offered a free digital picture, and a delicious candy treat! It was lots of fun to do this event and I was really happy to see how excited everyone got once they realized what was going on. Many of our friends and neighbors in the Riverbend area knew in advance that I was planning to take pictures on Halloween night, but we also had lots of others come by that had no idea. I think we surprised and impressed everyone and it was great to see the reactions. I am definitely planning to do something similar again next year, and it also has me thinking about lots of other opportunities to get my neighbours involved. Although I saw lots of really cool costumes, the best showing of all was my friend Nicole and her family. Mom and Dad where dressed as chef's while brought little Baby Alexis (who's not so much a baby anymore) was in her Lobster costume (complete with the pot to boil her in). All the images turned out great, but here are a few more of my favorites:

Sports Action with the Mako Water Polo Club

I had the honor of being asked to create images for the Calgary Mako Water Polo Club for use on their website. I will be donating any images that they wish to use for the site, and I have also made the images available to the players and parents to purchase. Prints and Digital Downloads are available for direct purchase at http://events.RiverwoodPhotography.com. I've been out to three of the club's practices so far. I was at the pool at the Calgary Jewish Community Center on October 16th and 28th, and also at the Talisman Center on October 25th. I would be happy to go out again if any of the players or parents are interested in getting some additional images. Thanks to all the players for working so hard and for helping me to make some great pictures of them. These kids honestly put their hearts and souls into their practices and they swim a lot at each practice. I can only image the effort they must put in during their games and tournaments... I love doing sports photography and covering these practices really made me want to do more of it! If you belong to a sports club or team and you have a game or an event that you would like me to cover, please contact me! Here are a few of my favorite images from the three practice sessions:

Product Showcase – Photo Greeting Cards

NOTE - This article originally appeared in the September Newsletter. Custom Designed Photo Greeting Cards While I have made a few minor tweaks to my packages and pricing over the summer months, I really haven't made any major changes in quite a while. I have started a review of the products and services that I offer and it immediately came clear that I need to offer a wider variety of print products, including cards and gifts, albums, and even framed and matted images. I can certainly provide all of these things now, and I have been doing so on request, but I know that many people would prefer to have some easily accessible information about what is available and at what cost. Because I have a number of new products that I'm planning to roll out, I thought I would feature some of them in the newsletter. This month I'm going to showcase a few of the greeting card designs that I have made recently. This is of particular interest right now because my show special at the Calgary Moms Trade Fair this weekend is a bonus set of 20 custom greeting cards to be included with any portrait session booked by the end of the month. Greeting cards may be purchased with images from any portrait session and they are available as flat or folded cards. The flat cards are beautifully printed on professional quality photographic paper with a Lustre finish, while the folded cards are a press printed on card stock. Several papers and finishes are available. Mailing envelopes are included with every card. Pricing and Delivery Times Flat cards are available in sets of 10 for $40, 25 for $75, or 50 [...]

Slideshow – Trash the Dress at 10,000 Feet

A Fusion video slideshow of photography and video from an adventurous Trash-the-Dress wedding photoshoot at the top of Cirque Peak in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The hike to Helen Lake is 16km (10 miles) up to the summit at 10,000 feet. It was a wonderful day in the mountains and the photoshoot was incredible.
