As a little bonus for my friends and followers every month I provide a free image for use as your desktop background wallpaper on your computer, mobile phone, or tablet. Each beautiful photo is a picture that I have created and it always includes a calendar overlay for the month. I know that I’m always looking for a calendar and having one on my desktop or phone wallpaper is very convenient!

This months background wallpaper image is a pair of Baby Gophers playing together in a grassy field outside of Calgary on a beautiful spring day. Baby gophers don't look all that different from the adults (especially in pictures) but they really are much smaller. In fact they are less than half the size of a full-grown animal, and they are very cute! Although everyone calls these cute little critters gophers, they are officially known as Richardson’s Ground Squirrels. They are often confused with Prairie Dogs, but that is a completely different species (much more rare, and not found in the Calgary area). No matter what they are called they are very fun to watch and extremely photogenic. I really look forward to spring every year and I always take some time out to play with the gophers. Hopefully the rain will stop soon and we'll all have a chance to get outside to enjoy it! This months background wallpaper image is a close-up of the flower from an Easter Lily that I bought for my wife. She's had a crazy few days of work and I thought she needed something to cheer her up! It just so happens that I love Lilies too and I love to photograph them. I set this one up in the backyard and got down nice and low so that I would have nothing behind it other than the beautiful blue sky. The weather over the Easter long weekend was fantastic and I managed to get out to enjoy quite a bit of it. I hope you will enjoy this image as much as I liked creating it! This months background wallpaper image comes from a recent charity Pet Portrait event. This cute dog is a French Bulldog and we had lots of fun together! I love photographing dogs with character and I'm always excited when that character comes screaming through in the resulting images. I can't believe how long this dog's tongue is! This months background wallpaper image comes from a walk in my neighbourhood. This is another image that is the direct result of the icy cold air that we've had for so much of the winter in Calgary this year. The ice fog forms almost every night and coats everything around it in a thick layer of frost. These ice crystals were a happy accident that formed as a result of many layers of frost forming over night and breaking down during the days that follow. Winter can be a beautiful thing! This months background wallpaper image comes from a walk along the shores of the Bow River. The icy cold air in Calgary resulted in huge plumes of ice fog forming all along river. The fog coated everything around it in a thick layer of frost, and these remnants of a summer long past were no exception. The rising sun in the background washed the entire scene in a beautiful orange glow. Although it was extremely cold out, it was worth the pain to enjoy the sight.
