This months background wallpaper image comes from The Ranche in Fish Creek Park in South East Calgary.
I had a fall family portrait session scheduled at The Ranche so I arrived early to take advantage of the beautiful day! I had a great time exploring the area and made a bunch of detail images. The textures of the peeling paint on some of the fence boards and the walls of the barns are very cool. This particular image comes from the walls of a vibrant red barn on the site. This barn is very commonly used as a backdrop for portraits, but it’s very beautiful on its own too!

This months background wallpaper image comes from the prairies to the East of Calgary.
I love roaming the prairies and although I’ve been too busy to get out for this kind of personal photography very often lately, I recently managed to make a trip out to enjoy the sunset. It’s really amazing how lush and green the countryside is this summer. In a normal year it would be brown as far as the eye can see. Not so this year. We’ve had so much rain in the Calgary area that the land is green from horizon to horizon. It’s really amazing to see. As a result the crops in the fields appear to be vibrant and healthy. I stopped at the edge of a wheat field to catch the last rays of the sun as they lit up a grain bin, but very quickly got distracted by the grain itself. I’m no farmer but I believe that these are stalks of wheat…
