Free Desktop Wallpaper for April 2012

This months wallpaper image is from a recent family trip to Canmore. We had a lazy day in the mountains and decided to take the old Highway 1A home instead of the main route. The old highway is always a treasure trove of scenic viewpoints, beautiful birds, and plenty of animals.

Snowshoeing in Kananaskis Free Desktop Wallpaper As a little bonus for my friends and followers every month I provide a free image for use as your desktop background wallpaper on your computer. Each beautiful photo is a picture that I have created and it always includes a calendar overlay for the month. I know that I’m always looking for a calendar and having one on my desktop is very convenient! This months wallpaper image is from a day trip to Peter Lougheed Provincial Park in Kananaskis Country. There are plenty of designated snowshoe routes in Kananaskis and this picture is from a family trip around the Penstock loop. The Penstock loop is relatively easy with very little elevation change, so it was an ideal choice for getting the kids used to their new snowshoes. It is also very well traveled, so unless you are in the first group out after a big snowfall there isn't much trail-breaking required in deep snow. So other than the fact that you are wearing snowshoes, doing this trip is very similar to going for a hike in the woods. But as I learned when my snowshoe broke, the snowshoes really do make a massive difference and walking on this trail without them is very hard! Fortunately we were most of the way around and I only had to slog it out for a little while to get back to the car! Red Maple Leaf on White Snow Free Desktop Wallpaper As a little bonus for my friends and followers every month I provide a free image for use as your desktop background wallpaper on your computer. Each beautiful photo is a picture that I have created and it always includes a calendar overlay for the month. I know that I’m always looking for a calendar and having one on my desktop is very convenient! This months wallpaper image is from a recent trip to Winfield, BC (about halfway between Vernon and Kelowna) to visit my parents. There is a beautiful park near there home that we often take the kids for a walk and to play at the playground. It had snowed the night before and I saw this maple leaf perched up perfectly on top of the fresh blanket of snow. I love the strong contrast of the red leaf against the bright white snow. Enjoy! Total Lunar Eclipse over the Calgary Skyline Free Desktop Wallpaper As a little bonus for my friends and followers every month I provide a free image for use as your desktop background wallpaper on your computer. Each beautiful photo is a picture that I have created and it always includes a calendar overlay for the month. I know that I’m always looking for a calendar and having one on my desktop is very convenient! This months wallpaper image comes from Scotsman's Hill in Calgary and features the total lunar eclipse as it descended over the city. It was the perfect situation as the eclipse and the full moon aligned with the sunrise on a beautiful winter morning. The fact that the timing of the moonset and the sunrise allowed for the rich blue sky and some detail in the foreground while also leaving the moon visible. Normally if you photograph the moon in the middle of the night you will see only a very bright moon and a very black sky, so this timing was perfect for photography. I was also very excited when I calculated that the moon and the skyline would align from this vantage point on Scotsman's Hill. Duck on a Bridge Free Desktop Wallpaper As a little bonus for my friends and followers every month I provide a free image for use as your desktop background wallpaper on your computer. Each beautiful photo is a picture that I have created and it always includes a calendar overlay for the month. I know that I’m always looking for a calendar and having one on my desktop is very convenient! This months wallpaper image comes from Carburn Park. My kids and I went for a walk in the woods at the back of the park. As we came up to the bridge over the stream we discovered this female mallard standing on the bridge. She stared at us as we approached, almost as if she were daring us to cross over the bridge. We watched for a couple of minutes, but then carried on. She scurried off the bridge and down the path in front of us. When we took a sharp turn onto a side trail she immediately circled back and hopped back up on the bridge. It was really quite funny! Fortunately the light at the park was beautiful and I was able to create a nice image to remember the situation.
