Charity & Bruce | Wedding Sneak Peek
The Wedding of Charity Derksen and Bruce Potter on August 20, 2011 I first met Charity this past winter a very cold day at River Park Dog Park. She brought her dog Lola to a pet portrait mini-session that I had arranged in partnership with Pawsitively Natural Dog Daycare. Although her session was pretty short (because we were all freezing), it was a beautiful day and the conditions for photography were great. I was excited by all of the images that I made for her. There was one shot in particular where everything came together with this incredibly soft and beautiful light and I knew that I had nailed it! I remember saying to myself "Oh... this could be good!" Fast forward a few months to the summer... I was checking my email one day when up pops a note from Charity asking for some pricing for photography for her upcoming wedding. I was instantly excited and very happy that she would consider using me for such an important day! I immediately thought back to that lovely winter day... We got together a couple of weeks ago for an engagement session. I love doing this kind of session because they are much more relaxed than the wedding day and it gives me and the couple a chance to get to know each other a little better before the big day. I love their engagement photos so much and it gave me some extra confidence that their wedding day was going to be perfect too! Candid Images from Ladies Night of Indulgence
I had a really great time at "Ladies Night of Indulgence" last Saturday! This event was tons of fun and the interaction between all the participants and between the vendors was fantastic. We had all kinds of decadence to choose from and everyone was really engaged. They had a wide selection of things to try out: chocolate, wine, jewelery, skin and hair care products. There were also booths to learn about health and wellness options including massage, postural assessments, and nutritional products. And of course I was there with my photo studio to create Headshots and Business Portraits for anyone that was interested. All in all it was a very fun event and we're already looking into doing another one soon. I'm hoping that the next one will be in South East Calgary instead of in the North West. Stay tuned for details! Whenever I attend an event or a trade show I always try to capture a few candid images of the vendors and the participants as they enjoy the show. Here are a few of those images that may help give you a feel for the show!
Girls Night Out! Calgary | The Women’s Information Network
A really great event called Girls Night Out! came to Calgary on Thursday night and I was very fortunate to be able to take part. "Girl's Night Out! is a fabulous, fun evening event where women learn, laugh, and connect with one another. These (free!) entertaining and educational events are sponsored by The Women’s Information Network (TheWINonline.com). The WIN is a community of women helping women, worldwide." The speakers were engaging and entertaining and the message was extremely powerful. I was asked to attend to photograph the event, both for posterity and to ensure that anyone in attendance who wanted a portrait made would have a chance. The latter part was somewhat difficult as the event was very popular and the room was full. I did manage to make a few great images, but more importantly I met lots of wonderful people and had lots of fun too! Thanks so much to everyone who attended and also to the organizers for allowing me to participate!
