Marissa Reckmann | Better Business Portrait

Marissa Reckmann Headshot Marissa recently came into my home studio for a Social Media Mini portrait session. She is the Director of Environmental Operations at AGAT Laboratories and needed a new headshot for use on the company website and her social media accounts. If you only need one image then these are very quick sessions and I try to make them as easy and painless as possible for you. This portrait was created on a rich red backdrop, but I have a wide variety of other backgrounds to choose from. When you book your headshot appointment we will discuss a few details, including the intended use of the image and the clothes you might wear, and I can help you choose the backdrop that you would like to use. I love this red one and I need to remember to use it more often! To learn more about Business Portrait sessions and to see some example images you can check out my dedicated Calgary Headshots website. AGAT Laboratories is a highly specialized, Canadian-based company that provides laboratory services worldwide. The company's operations encompass 12 scientific divisions to offer full-service solutions to multiple industry types within the Environmental, Energy, Mining, Industrial, Transportation, Agri-Food and Life Sciences sectors.

Movember Finale

Movember Self Portrait It's Not too Late to Donate This is a self-portrait I created to commemorate the final day of Movember 2011. It's been a good run but I'm excited to shave this thing off. Thanks to everyone for the support! We didn't raise as much money as I had hoped this year, but the Movember campaign really went mainstream. It really seemed like everyone was already inundated with information about it, so I didn't advertise my campaign as much I had planned to. That's good news though because I'm certain that a lot more money was raised this year than in any year in the past! If you haven't donated yet you still can! Your donation will support research and awareness of prostate cancer. If you don't like donating online then you can download a Movember donation form to send by mail instead.

Cancer Sucks, and I want to do something about it!

Movember (the month formerly known as November) is a global campaign responsible for ugly moustaches appearing on faces all over Canada and the world. With their “Mo’s” proudly on display these men raise hundreds or even thousands of dollars each to build awareness and support research unto men's health issues, specifically prostate cancer. Cancer Sucks Yes, cancer sucks. But we can do something about it! Although it has been a couple of years since I directly participated in this campaign by growing a Mo, this will be the 4th year in a row that I have participated. I have a great group of buddies that have been proudly growing their Mo's every year and I have always photographed the final result. You can see some of the fun and ridiculous photos that have resulted at the bottom of this page. But before you do that, please use the links below to click through and learn how you can support my Movember campaign by donating, or even better, by participating in Movember by growing your own Mo! If you don't like donating online then you can download a Movember donation form to send by mail instead. Mo Portraits - FREE Don't forget to come back here every now and then throughout the month of Movember to learn more about some of the prizes and specials I will be running for those of you that participate. The first special offer is that I will offer a free “Mo Portrait” session to anyone that joins my team and grows their own Mo. This will be a short session at the end of the month to photograph the final result of your Mo growing effort so that you can [...]

Now Booking Fall Portrait Sessions

It's never too early to book a fall portrait session for your family, especially when fall in Calgary is just around the corner! I know it's only just the beginning of September, but fall can land in Calgary anytime in mid-September and the fall colors may only last until mid-October. Last year we had a glorious fall and the fall colours lasted well into November, but you never know if that's going to happen again this year or not! So far it looks like we are in fact having another late summer in Calgary, but you'd be better off safe than sorry, so book your family fall portrait sitting now! I have only a limited number of weekend sessions available in the next few weeks, so please don't wait to call. If you have a specific time or location that you'd like to meet please feel free to ask. Note that I am a custom portrait photographer and I do everything I can to ensure that every photography session is perfect. One way that I do that is by only booking one portrait session in the morning and one session in the afternoon on available weekend dates. I don't cram sessions in one after the other, and therefore I only have a limited number of fall portrait sessions available this year... Call me now at 403-615-3708 to schedule your Calgary Fall Portrait Photography Session.

Images from Halloween Spooktacular

I wanted to share a few sample images from our special "Garage of Horrors" studio event on Halloween Night. Every Trick or Treater that stopped by the garage was offered a free digital picture, and a delicious candy treat! It was lots of fun to do this event and I was really happy to see how excited everyone got once they realized what was going on. Many of our friends and neighbors in the Riverbend area knew in advance that I was planning to take pictures on Halloween night, but we also had lots of others come by that had no idea. I think we surprised and impressed everyone and it was great to see the reactions. I am definitely planning to do something similar again next year, and it also has me thinking about lots of other opportunities to get my neighbours involved. Although I saw lots of really cool costumes, the best showing of all was my friend Nicole and her family. Mom and Dad where dressed as chef's while brought little Baby Alexis (who's not so much a baby anymore) was in her Lobster costume (complete with the pot to boil her in). All the images turned out great, but here are a few more of my favorites:
