Calgary Pet Photographer

Earl and Bella

I've been doing lots of pet photography lately and I had a great visit with Earl the Pug, and Bella the Staffordshire Terrier, in my studio. These dogs are both beautiful and they were wonderful models! It's been awhile since we've had a dog around the house and my daughter Melanie was very excited when these gentle friends arrived. She appointed herself their caretaker and made she they were comfortable and doing what they were supposed to be doing. She also helped to get each dogs attention and make sure they were looking at the camera when I wanted them too. It was a very fun session and I'm looking forward to doing a lot more dog photography sessions coming up. A few of my favorite images from the session are found below, and more are in the Client Area.

Free Desktop Wallpaper for January 2011

This months background wallpaper image comes from a recent visit to the Calgary Zoo with my family. We love the zoo and we visit often! I've photographed most of the animals there so many times that I tend to try for more abstract images these days. This is obviously a portion of the head and shoulders of a zebra. I loved the golden light dancing across the back of the zebra and how it contrasted against the winter blue sky. Happy New Year to all my friends and family and my clients new and old. Thanks so much for all of your support over the past year in helping me grow my business. I look forward to spending quality time with all of you in the coming year! Please let me know if there are any other formats or sizes you would like to see. Free Desktop Wallpaper for December 2010

This months background wallpaper image comes from a recent photoshoot at Pawsitively Natural Dog Daycare. This cute little puppy dog was very sleepy and could barely keep his eyes open. Soon after I made this image he curled up in a ball against the wall and fell fast asleep. To see more images from this session please check the previously post entitled Pet Portraits at Pawsitively Natural. If you're interested in having some portraits made of your dog (or of you and your family with your pet) please consider joining us for a Pet Photography Session at River Park Off Leash Park on December 11th. Please let me know if there are any other formats or sizes you would like to see. Download To install the images as your desktop background, simply click on the link below depending on the file resolution you would like to use, then right-click on the larger image and select “Set as Desktop Background...”. Pet Portraits at Pawsitively Natural Dog Daycare

Pet photography is lots of fun and so I was very excited while getting ready for this shoot. I got to hang out with a dozen dogs at Pawsitively Natural Dog Daycare. We started out by going for a long walk with 9 of the dogs. It was the first big snow day of the year in Calgary and so the outdoor shots were a little challenging due to the cold and the snow. We went back inside the daycare afterwards for some more pet playtime. One of the key images that I was trying to create was a shot of Eric (the owner of the day care) with all of the dogs spread out around him while they went for a walk. In my original vision of this shot there were beautiful leaves in their golden fall colors all around us. Sometimes you have to adapt to the reality of the sitution, and I'm actually really happy with the snowy images that were available to us! I have posted a few of my favorite images below, but you can find all of the pictures (indexed by dog) at http://events.RiverwoodPhotography.com. Prints and Digital Downloads are available for purchase there. I'm looking forward to working with Eric and his clients more in the future. In fact we have another event already planned for December 4th. Please consider joining us for some supervised play at the Riverpark Off Leash Dog Park on December 4th at 10:00 AM. Eric will be there with some special treats for each participant and he will also be available to give you some tips and tricks on how to improve your relationship with your pet. I will be there ready to create [...]

A Recent Dog Photography Session

This will be just a quick post to share a few images from a recent pet photography session I had with a very cute dog. I love playing with and photographing dogs and this cutie was great at both. As soon as I arrived he ran right up to me and we started playing. When I was ready to make a few pictures he immediately settled down and did everything I asked. It makes my job so much easier when the subject does what I ask! Dogs and children are usually much more free-spirited, so this was a real treat for me. He did add his own personal flavor to the session though and I got a few very interesting images beyond the standard portraits that I was trying to make! I've got more pet photography sessions planned in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned for related posts coming soon.
