Family Portrait Session

I was honored to be invited to create some family and individual portraits for some old friends. They asked me for studio style portraits of their youngest child to match some images they already had of their older child, and also some indoor and outdoor portraits of the entire family. I have a portable studio (including backdrops and lighting gear) that I can set up anywhere, so we turned their living room into a photography studio! I made portraits of both of the children individually and with their parents, and then the whole family together against a black background. The black background is very dramatic images and I really love black and white images created against it. After finishing up inside we went outside to take advantage of a beautiful fall day in Calgary. They live in a prime location adjacent to a very scenic "green" space. I have to put green in quotes because, although the session was completed in early September, the fall colors had already fully arrived. The weather was fantastic and the scenery was perfect to make some lovely fall portraits of the family! I love doing this kind of session where there's lots of variety and the images are all very different. It was a very fun session and it was great hang out with my friends! On a related note... Fast forward only a couple of weeks later to today and the fall colors are already peaking. If you're thinking about getting some fall portraits made this year I would really recommend that you book your session soon. The nice weather is supposed to hold for a little while longer, but the leaves will only stay on the trees [...]

Slideshow – Trash the Dress at 10,000 Feet

A Fusion video slideshow of photography and video from an adventurous Trash-the-Dress wedding photoshoot at the top of Cirque Peak in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The hike to Helen Lake is 16km (10 miles) up to the summit at 10,000 feet. It was a wonderful day in the mountains and the photoshoot was incredible.

Vacation Delays

I just wanted to post a quick update to say that any response to inquiries or to orders posted between now and August 9th may be delayed. I will try to get to them ASAP; however, I will be in and out of town a couple of times and won't have internet access for most of it... Thanks for your understanding! Cheers, Sean PS - The image above is of Hoodoos in the Badlands at Writing on Stone Provincial Park in South Eastern Alberta. We went camping there for a few days and I really enjoyed roaming through the badlands under the light of the full moon. The place is very beautiful day and night, and it's a wonderful place to go camping. I highly recommend it!

Chinook Outriders Motorcycle Club Photoshoot

Image Collage from a Photoshoot with the Chinook Outriders Recently I had the pleasure of being invited to create individual and group portraits for the members of a Calgary Women's Motorcycle Club. The Chinook Outriders are the Calgary chapter of the Women in the Wind. This group includes a bunch of beautiful and classy ladies and the photo shoot was incredibly fun. I would photograph an event like this again any time! Thanks to all the women that came out and put on their leathers and the other gear (including their wonderful attitudes!) required to help me make some really great portraits! All of the images have been uploaded to our Online Ordering System for Events. Enlargements and reprints can be ordered from that gallery for delivery directly to you. Digital copies of each image are also available for download. Images can be easily sorted and searched by rider name so you can quickly find the ones that are important to you. Free Desktop Wallpaper for July 2010

This months desktop background wallpaper image comes from a recent portrait shoot. Danielle came over with her violin and played several songs while I made images of her. It was lots of fun to capture the action while she played, and I really enjoyed getting in very close to make detail shots of her hands and the instrument itself. I hope you will enjoy this image as much as I do! Download To install the images as your desktop background, simply click on the link below depending on the file resolution you would like to use, then right-click on the larger image and select “Set as Desktop Background...”. Enjoy.
