Simply Sunday: Wild Strawberries

My family and I went to Kananaskis to go looking for Wild Strawberries. I mean to go hiking. No, really it was to look for berries!

We hiked the Chester Lake Trail in August last year and found Strawberries in abundant supply all along both sides of the trail and we had big hopes that we would do so again on this trip. Unfortunately the trail to Chester was closed due to Bear activity, so we had to change our plans. We decided to do the nearby Burstall Pass trail instead. The good news is that Burstall is also beautiful, and there were many berries to be found there as well!

Side Note – Although we didn’t see it we were warned by a couple who had just seen a Cougar on a side trail just ahead of us. That would have been an exciting addition to this blog post! The photographer in me always wants to see exciting and beautiful creatures when we go out hiking. The protective father in me (and the wife at my side) are somewhat less interested and so we always try to make lots of noise when we’re on the trail in the backcountry…
