Simply Sunday: Nose Hill Park

Calgary Lifestyle Photography

I borrowed a lens from Canon for the weekend because I wanted to test it out (* more about that at the end for those of you that care) and so I decided to make a stop at Nose Hill Park in Calgary today with the kids. I’ve been working some really crazy hours lately trying to get caught up on all of the projects I’ve got going and it was really nice to actually have some time to take a break!

The weather was pretty perfect for photography. It was a little bit sunny and a little bit cloudy, and everything was very lush! We’ve had so much rain in the Calgary area lately that everything is beautifully green and all the wildflowers are in full bloom… Of course there were lots of mosquito’s out too, so we never really stopped moving the whole time we were there. A couple of breaks for snacks and for some portraits on the rocks and at the top of the hill, but other than that it was just a nice walk in the park!

* I borrowed a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II lens from Canon because my similar lens (the Mark I version, not the II) has been giving me some problems. I wanted to have a good copy of the lens available for a shoot that I have planned, but unfortunately I realized too late that I had gotten ahead of myself and booked the lens for the wrong weekend; I actually need it for next weekend! Oh well, using this one for only a few minutes immediately proved that my own lens is definitely not working right, and therefore it needs to go in for service. So it will go out tomorrow and I should have it back in a few days. The Mark II version is really nice though, and I may be in for an upgrade before too long!
