A local entrepreneur that I met through the Calgary Chamber of Commerce contacted me because he needed some new business portraits for use on his social media accounts. I’ve been on a real kick lately trying to save Calgarians from those horrible pictures that they’re using on their internet accounts. You know the ones… Stand in front of a bright white wall and have your friend take a picture with their point and shoot camera. Make sure the flash is on so it’s nice and bright!
Remember what they say about first impressions? These days first impressions are being formed before people even meet each other. We’re Googling each other and checking out Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. It’s very important to have great pictures waiting to meet your new friends and business associates to ensure that the first impression is also great, and not just OK (or worse).
That’s exactly what Dave was looking for when he came over. He wanted to make sure that his prospective clients, associates, and business partners get the right impression when they look him up. We got some great portraits done very quickly. I always try to get a few traditional or formal images done right away, and then move on from there. Dave is a real character and he has a lot of energy, so we definitely weren’t done yet! He was talking and telling stories and only coached him a little bit to try to change up the look. He responded to every suggestion and mad the place all his own. It wasn’t long before he was riding my son’s bike all around my garage. He followed that up by putting on boxing gloves and doing some air boxing. I was creating new and exciting images the entire time, trying to capture some of the creativity and personality that exudes from Dave whenever he’s around…
Although he won’t use all of these images, he has a really great collection to choose from. He can tailor his public image to each specific situation, and portray himself in the best possible way for each situation.
Business portraits don’t have to be boring!
